crankySheets: Spreadsheets for Playdate

crankySheets is a CSV editor and calculator built just for the Playdate. Whether you're a developer tracking game variables or just want a cool way to list stuff, this app gets the job done and makes great use of that crank!

File Management

• Real CSV Files: Standard CSV files are saved and loaded via the Playdate's file system. Your data is yours, portable, and safe.
• Quick Access: Get to work fast with a menu for New File, opening existing sheets, and grabbing something from your Recent Files list.
• Built to Last: You get 26 columns (A-Z) and 100 rows—plenty of capacity for portable spreadsheets.
• Cleanup Crew: You can delete sheets right from the Open or Recent lists without plugging in your device.

Formulas Made Easy

• Essential Functions: It handles the basics: SUM, AVG (Average), MUL (Multiply), and DIV (Divide).
• Visual Range Selection  Just hit the 'B' button for the cell menu, select your formula (SUM, AVG...), and use the D-Pad to visually mark the start and end of your range. The app will generate the formula.
• Smart References: Use single cells (e.g., =A1) or full ranges (e.g., =AVG(D5:D10)). 

Settings

• Global Bold Mode: Jump into the Settings Menu and switch on "Bold All Text". Instantly gives the whole app a clean, high-contrast look that's easy on the eyes. (Default: ON)
• Control Your Width: Head to Settings and use the Crank to set your own Max Cell Width. If you hate scrolling sideways, you can tighten things up or go wide if your data needs the space. By default cells will auto adjust to length of cell contents. There is an option to disable auto adjust under settings.
• Cell Menu: The 'B' button brings up a quick menu to Clear Cell, launch the Visual Formula Selector instantly or select the option to freeze the top row.
• Always There: Save, Load, and Main Menu are all available right from the Playdate's System Menu, so you're never far from an option.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the latest .zip(pdx) file of Little Yellow Safe.
2. Go to Playdate Sideload (Playdate Sideload) and log in with your Playdate account.
3. Upload the .zip(pdx) file to your account.
4. On your Playdate device, open the System -> Game Library -> Side Loaded menu and refresh your library.
5. crankySheets should now appear in your Playdate’s game list, ready to install and then launch!
