Keep your secrets safe with Little Yellow Safe, a lightweight password manager designed exclusively for the Playdate handheld console.

This offline app lets you store, organize, and manage your passwords right on your Playdate. It’s built with simplicity and security in mind, but with the important caveat that the Playdate was never meant to be a hardened security device. Think of this as a fun, portable vault for less-critical accounts — not a substitute for a dedicated password manager.

While Little Yellow Safe does use encryption and PIN protection to keep your stored data private, please understand:

• The Playdate is not a secure hardware device. If your Playdate is stolen, your passwords could be at risk.

• This app is designed for convenience and fun — not to protect your most sensitive data.

• Do not use this app for critical information such as banking, government, or financial service accounts.

• By using this app, you agree that it is at your own risk. The developer (subRobots) is not responsible for lost, stolen, or compromised information or passwords.

That said, because the app is completely offline and never touches the internet, it should be safe enough for general use cases like storing login info for forums, games, or other non-critical accounts.

📥 Installation Instructions

1. Download the latest .zip(pdx) file of Little Yellow Safe.

2. Go to Playdate Sideload (Playdate Sideload) and log in with your Playdate account.

3. Upload the .zip(pdx) file to your account.

4. On your Playdate device, open the System -> Game Library -> Side Loaded menu and refresh your library.

5. Little Yellow Safe should now appear in your Playdate’s game list, ready to install and then launch!

6. At first screen you will setup your initial PIN code which can be modified later under settings. If you ever forget this you can delete all game data under settings and start over but you will lose all your currently saved passwords.

(Alternatively, you can sideload the .zip/pdx directly using USB and Playdate’s Mirror/SDK tools if you prefer a manual install.)
